Kakamega Homeboyz are the champions of the second edition of the Elijah Lidonde Super Cup.

Homeboyz dethroned 10-man AFC Leopards after beating their bitter rivals 1-0 in an explosive final match that was attended by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi at Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday.

Ingwe finished the match with one man less after Aziz Okaka was sent off for a second bookable offense.

Ugandan striker Davis Kasire came off the bench to score the priceless goal in the 79th minute and hand Abana ba Ingo their second title in the club's history after winning FKF Cup last season.

Apart from the trophy, Homeboyz pocketed Sh1 million in prize money, while AFC received Sh500,000.

Mulembe United clinched the bronze medal after stunning Nzoia Sugar 2-1 in the third place playoffs.

For finishing third, the National Super League side walked home with Sh250,000 while Godfrey Oduor's charges bagged Sh200,000.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi gave an additional Sh100,000 to all the four participating clubs.

Kasire, who had replaced Moses Shummah, pounced on Stephen Opuku's delivery to beat AFC Leopards goalkeeper Levis Opiyo.

Homeboyz captain Moses Mudavadi termed the win as a sweet revenge following their 2-0 defeat to Ingwe in the FKF Premier League two weeks ago.

"Like any other derby, this match was fierce and I'm glad we emerged victorious against a tough opponent. What a perfect Christmas gift to our fans and revenge on our league defeat," said Mudavadi.

In the third place playoffs match, Mulembe United upset Nzoia Sugar 2-1.

Joseph Wafula broke the deadlock in the 27th minute for the millers but his celebration was cut short by Kevin Sagida's equaliser three minutes later.

Kendrick Onzore scored the winner in the 81st minute after capitalising on Nzoia's defensive blunder.

Legends team led by former Kenyan internationals Patrick Mugata, Sylvanus Otema, Anthony Okumu, Fred Serenge, Nicholas Muyoti, Dennis Mukaisi and tournament's patron Alex Muteshi among other players beat 22bet 3-0 in a curtain raiser match.
