Nakuru City Queens land sponsorship

After several hardships since its formation, Kenya Women Premier League side Nakuru City Queens can now breathe a sigh of relief after Royal Group Limited committed to support their future football activities.

Although the Real Estate and Manufacturing company did not give a definite figure of their sponsorship, the firm's General Manager Tom Oyier said they are the official shirt sponsors of the team.

He said they would cater for the team's accommodation, meals, transport expenses and players' allowances in all their league matches.

"All we need is a disciplined side with some conglomerate and co-operate image among its players and officials," Oyier told reporters at the unveiling of the sponsorship in the office of Nakuru County Government Executive Committee Member for Sports, Culture and Arts Josephine Atieno in the presence of County Director of Sports Alice Gekonde and the club officials.

Atieno said with the sponsorship, the club should be able to attract top talents and possibly win back a number of her best players who left earlier in search of greener pastures.

"Being a homegrown club, we should be able to stem the exodus of our top players and possibly win back those who had left us now that we have a good sponsorship," said Atieno.

Club chairman Stephen Mabeya promised to maintain high dignity among players and be good ambassadors as they seek to restore their lost glory.

"There's no way we can fail to be a disciplined team and hope to produce and export top players to foreign markets without discipline. It will remain intact in us as it has been," he said.

Secretary general Judith Adhiambo revealed the club's annual budget stands at Sh30 million.
