Kenya Sevens on Friday evening suffered their second straight defeat at Malaga Sevens after losing 19-14 to Wales in their second Group D match played at the Estadio Ciudad de Malaga, Spain.
Shujaa headed into the match seeking to bounce back after they had lost their opening match to Canada, same as Wales who had also lost to France.
Kenya’s quarterfinals hopes are now in serious jeopardy having lost their two opening matches and they need to win their match against France on Saturday to stand a chance of scraping through as best losers.
In the match, Vincent Onyala scored his third try of the Malaga 7s leg after giving Kenya the lead with Levy Amunga converting to lead 7-0.
However, Wales clawed back into the game moments before half time after Morgan Williams crossed over and Luke Treharne added the extras to tie the scores at 7-7 heading into the breather.

In the final half, Williams and Treharne combined again to stretch Wales’s lead to 14-7 before Shujaa tied the scores after Jeff Oluoch went over for a try that Daniel Taabu converted for a 14-14 score line.
A late pressure from the Welshmen saw Kenya give in as Tom Brown slipped past the defence to score the winner.
