He was appointed to head the Rangers in February last year for a three-year contract replacing Sammy Pamzo Omolo early last year after parting ways with the team over poor performances. Okumbi is the chairman, Korogocho Youth where he grew up before joining the Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA).
He later coached Mathare United and led Mathare Youth to lift the Copa Coca Cola tournament in 22009/2010. Okumbi won the World Cup for Hope in South Africa with the team in 2010.
He has also served as an assistant coach at Kariobangi Sharks, and Sony Sugar.
The tactician has managed the U-20 team to the finals against Tanzania in Uganda and also played in semi-finals against Uganda where he is listed.
