Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama set to decide his future

Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama is set to decide his future this week, according to his younger brother Harry Wanyama.

Wanyama, who has featured four times this season for Tottenham, has found his starting opportunities limited since Jose Mourinho arrived in November 2019.

In January, Wanyama was reportedly moving closer to completing a move to Scottish side Celtic but the club tied up a £2million deal for Ivorian Ismaila Soro from Israel side Bnei Yehuda.

The former Celtic midfielder is into the final 18 months of his contract, but his brother, Harry, says he will announce his decision in the next few days after he qualified for British citizenship.

Asked about his big brother’s future, Harry Wanyama said (via  People Daily): “It’s a normal thing for a footballer to get British citizenship after playing or staying in the country for at least five years."

He also revealed that his brother's agent will reveal whether the 28-year-old will remain at Spurs or where his next destination will be.

“Victor’s agent Ivan Modia will announce whether he will be leaving Spurs or not and which club. He is to make the announcement in two or three days, “he added.

The Harambee Stars skipper had also been linked with a move to several European clubs, including West Ham, Aston Villa, Norwich City and Galatasaray.

Wanyama is valued at £8 million by Tottenham and is paid £65,000-a-week.

Since he joined Spurs in an £11million deal from Saints, Wanyama has made 154 Premier League appearances to date, chipping in with 10 goals and three assists.

His career has also been marred by bursts of nagging injuries, which have also kept the midfielder out of action in crucial parts of the season.
