Former AFC coach to handle Zetech University

Nicholas Muyoti is welcomed by Zetech University Executive Director for Communications and Student Affairs Moses Maina at the University Main Campus in Ruiru.

Nicholas Muyoti is back in the dug-out after signing a one-year deal to coach Zetech University.

He takes over from former international Sammy Omollo, who has been hired by Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Posta Rangers.

Muyoti termed the move a new challenge for him and an opportunity to stamp his philosophy on the team.

“I don’t look at it as a climb down considering my previous position, but rather it is a challenge for me to be able to do the same thing I have done elsewhere at this level,” said the former AFC Leopards assistant coach.

He added: “As an assistant coach it is really difficult to do much as you have to report to the head coach. This position now gives me ample time to implement my philosophy on the team.”

Muyoti praised the current squad at Zetech University pointing out that he may not make a lot of changes.

“They have really done well in the Universities and Colleges League by finishing in second position twice in a row.

“We will, therefore, not make a lot of changes in the team but focus on replacing just a few players who are leaving for better opportunities elsewhere,” added Muyoti.

Muyoti, a former AFC Leopards and Harambee Stars midfielder, left AFC Leopards three months ago where he was an assistant coach to Ezekiel Akwana.

It was his second stint at Leopards having served in the same position four years ago under Luc Eymael.
