Music producers are often only recognized as beatmakers or hitmakers, but many have argued that they should be recognized as artists for the roles they play.

One internationally acclaimed music producer, Harmony Samuels-now going by his artist's name H-Money-comes to mind.

Harmony Samuels, born on May 16, 1980, in London, was raised by Nigerian parents.

His journey in the music industry began at the tender age of four when he taught himself how to play the piano and bass while performing for his church. By 14, he had decided to pursue a career as a music producer. He became the musical director of his church at the age of 12.

Little did he know when he eagerly delved into the intricacies of musical instruments that this would set the stage for a remarkable career.

Harmony's production career began in the UK, where he worked with notable artists in the music scene, including Chipmunk, Alesha Dixon, and Craig David.

After transitioning to Los Angeles, he continued to build his career by working with global stars such as Chris Brown, Jennifer Lopez, Maroon 5, Brandy, Rick Ross, Fifth Harmony, J. Cole, Missy Elliott, Janelle Monae, Summer Walker, and 6lack, among others.

Harmony has since gained recognition not only as a revered music producer but also as a prolific songwriter and musician, leaving an indelible mark on the ever-evolving landscapes of R&B and Pop music.

Thanks to his illustrious career, Harmony is a well-known name in both the African and global music scenes. He set out from the start to expand his repertoire by collaborating with artists like Ella Mai, Teyana Taylor, and Janet Jackson.

Since 2011, his production and songwriting credits boast a vast catalogue of globally successful songs.

Influenced by his cultural heritage, his sound also reflects his Nigerian roots, notably showcased in early career collaborations, contributing production credits to tracks like Seyi Shay's "Right Now" and Tiwa Savage's "Kele Kele Love" and "Love Me x3."

He also has songwriting credits on Rotimi's 2019 hit record "In My Bed" featuring Wale.

His work has been recognized by the Recording Academy, receiving a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song for "Without Me" by Fantasia featuring Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliott, which he co-wrote and produced.

Beyond the awards and recognition, Harmony's impact on the music industry is evident in the success of the artists he has worked with and the timeless music he produces and co-writes.

He has also produced and collaborated in the making of global hit music, including "Say Yes" by Michelle Williams, Beyonce, and Kelly Rowland, "I Bet" by Ciara, "Made for Now" by Janet Jackson and Daddy Yankee, "Think Like A Man" by Jennifer Hudson and Ne-Yo featuring Rick Ross, "Right There" by Ariana Grande featuring Big Sean, and "Gone" by Kelly Rowland featuring Wiz Khalifa.

Harmony has also lent his talents to the film industry by scoring music for 'Hotel Transylvania' 2 and 3, 'The Best Man Holiday,' 'Think Like a Man' 1 and 2, as well as the television series 'Empire.'

Following the late rapper Nipsey Hussle's tragic death in 2019, Harmony was inspired to start Studio Studies, where he draws in creatives such as musicians, actors, writers, producers, and entrepreneurs for monthly talks.

While Harmony stands as a thought leader, he continues to use music as a medium to give back through his company BOE Global and label BOE Records. His commitment to philanthropy is reflected in his mantra: 'There's more value in building than just buying.'

Despite Harmony's success, he has always had a desire to express himself as an artist. His transition from working behind the scenes to stepping into the spotlight as the artist H-Money has just begun, with the release of his debut single "Tic Tik," featuring Nigerian superstar Reekado Banks.

Delving into his Nigerian roots, H-Money is in his element, having produced an Afrobeats groove set to electrify the music scene and dance floors across Africa and beyond.

"Collaborating with Reekado has been a fantastic experience. He is a true professional, an amazing artist, and possesses incredible vocal talent and ability. I have also had the honor of being the executive producer for his upcoming album, which is truly incredible," he says.

H-Money is certainly one of Africa's most accomplished international music producers and writers-an inspiration to the continent's best of the best.

He confirms that he's still involved in the making of Janet Jackson's next album, saying, "I can't wait for everyone to hear these global hits."

His most recent release and approach mark the start of a brand-new and exciting chapter in his career.

"'Tic Tik' is my fire starter, marking the beginning of a new wave of 'Fro & Bee' (a blend of Afrobeats and R&B), merging cultures, genres, and fresh collaborations. I am currently working on my EP, FRO and BE, which features some incredible collaborations from around the world," he says.
