TikToker Brian Chira was laid to rest in Githunguri, Kiambu County, on Tuesday 26, March 2024, in an event attended by thousands of content creators.

'Chira Clan' as they were often referred to, showed up in their numbers to give one of their own a decent send-off, donning hoodies and caps inscribed with some of Chira's favourite phrases.

However, once the burial ceremony was over, Chira's family was seen eating cake, perhaps celebrating the life of the deceased.

This, however, did not go down well with a section of netizens who said it was unusual to cut cake in funerals.

In a video seen by TNX, Chira's grandmother was given a piece of cake by one of her grandchildren and later they all shared the delicacy.

Baba Talisha, who had lobbied friends and acquaintances to contribute towards Chira's send-off also had a piece.

"I have to Google what it means to eat cake in a funeral ceremony... Chira's death has made me learn something," wrote one.

"Cake in burial...spiritually it means alot, sitaki maneno acha nifunge mdomo,"added another.

"Wale wanauliza why the cake kwa burial, Chira's favourite baker where Chira used to buy cakes gave them a free cake," said another.

Chira buried in graduation gown

Chira was buried in a graduation gown, which was a special request by his grandmother.

According to Baba Talisha, the deceased was a bright student in school and excelled in his studies even in campus.

"There was a special request from his grandmother that he be buried in a graduation gown. Brian was a very bright student. He got an A- so that was a special request," said Baba T.

Chira was a victim of a hit-and-run accident that occurred along the Ndenderu-Ruaka road in Gacharage area early Saturday, March 16, 2024.

It was reported that he was going home after a night out at a popular joint in Gacharage when the incident happened.
