Kuppet blames Machogu for JSS troubles

Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers Trans Nzoia branch wants Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu moved from the Education docket.

The branch secretary Furaha Lusweti blamed Machogu over the challenges facing staff and urged President William Ruto to consider instituting a reshuffle in the ministry.

“There are growing concerns surrounding Kenya’s education system. The sector faces significant challenges that demand urgent attention,” said Lusweti.

He cited challenges faced by the newly implemented Junior Secondary School (JSS) programme. The programme’s integration into primary schools, according to Lusweti has resulted in a shortage of resources.

“The domicile of JSS in primary schools without adequate classrooms, laboratories, workshops and teachers, has left our students in a difficult situation that could ruin their future,” Lusweti lamented.

He fears the situation could compromise the quality of education for Grade 7 and 8 students.

According to Lusweti, a whole generation could be negatively impacted.
