The fifth week of the Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) 50-Overs League promises a thrilling spectacle, with a lineup of exciting Super League fixtures slated for various venues.

One of the standout matches will see Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj (SCLPS YL A) hosting the in-form Swamibapa A at Samaj Stadium in Nairobi West.

Swamibapa, who are tied on 10 points with reigning champions Ruaraka, currently sit second due to an inferior Net Run Rate of 2.220. However, Swamibapa has a game in hand, having played three matches compared to Ruaraka's four.

Last weekend saw Ruaraka suffer their first defeat of the season, falling to Kanbis by 52 runs. Eager to bounce back, Ruaraka will face hosts Sir Ali on Sunday in a bid to reclaim their dominance.

Swamibapa, meanwhile, will rely on their star-studded top order, featuring opener and captain Rushabh Patel, Harshvardhan Patel, and the formidable Sachin Gill.

Overseas star and wicketkeeper Dhwanil Patel, who scored 60 off 66 deliveries in their five-wicket win over Sir Ali last weekend, is also expected to shine.

Despite Swamibapa's strength, Samaj will not be easy opponents. Fresh off a massive 221-run victory over Gymkhana at home, the Nairobi West outfit will be looking for their second win of the season.

Key players for Samaj include top-order batsmen Manish Kerai, Rahul Harish, and Hiren Kerai, with Kishan Varsani, Ankit Bhanderi, and captain Niraj Patel expected to bolster the middle order.

Elsewhere, Kanbis A will be away to a struggling Nairobi Gymkhana. Gymkhana’s inconsistent batting and bowling performances have left them languishing in the league standings.

They will need experienced players like Dominic Wesonga and promising youngsters like Stian Smith to step up if they hope to compete with the in-form Kanbis side.

Kanbis skipper Dhiren Gondaria is confident but cautious, urging his team to play free cricket with responsibility.

"We have batting till number 11, but I would just urge my boys to play free cricket with full responsibility and things will go our way. Bowling-wise, I think we showed good character in our last match against Ruaraka.

“All my bowlers equally contributed towards the win, but not to take credit from fielders as well who threw themselves on the field and allowed the bowlers to bowl with confidence," Gondaria said.

In another Super League match, T-20 champions Stray Lions A will host Sikh Union A at Nairobi Jaffrey’s.

The Lions are yet to hit their stride in this year’s 50-Overs League and will be looking to turn their fortunes around against the revamped Sikhs, who boast three pros from Pakistan in their lineup.

Stray Lions will be hoping for a strong performance from last season’s highest run-scorer Subham Jadhav to lead their struggling batting unit.

Sikh Union, on the other hand, has had a strong start to the season, with Ali Bhatt leading the batting lineup impressively, supported by Subham Patel and Jasraj Kundi.

On the batting leaderboard, Ruaraka’s Gautam Waghela aims to maintain his lead, having scored 234 runs in four innings. He is followed by teammate Pushkar Sharma with 198 runs, while Samaj A’s Hiren Kerai sits at 160 runs from three innings.

Meanwhile, Division One leaders Ngara Sports Club A will face Obuya A at Lenana School Ground on Sunday. Both teams secured victories last weekend, with Obuya handing Gymkhana B a massive 101-run defeat at Nairobi Gymkhana.

This week's fixtures promise to deliver high-stakes action as teams vie for supremacy in the NPCA 50-Overs League.
