Chepngetich wins 2022 Nagoya Women's Marathon

Kenya's Ruth Chepngetich on Sunday morning won the 2022 Nagoya Women's Marathon in 2:17:18.

Chepngetich, who pocketed $250,000 ( sh28.5m), smashed the course record ahead of Israel's Lonah Chemtai Saltpeter who finished second in 2:18:45.

The win was close to her Personal Best she posted in the Half Marathon race in Istanbul on 3rd April 2021.

Yuko Ando from Japan settled for the bronze crossing the finish line at 2:22:22 while Al Hosoda and Yuka Suzuki from Japan finished at 2:24:20 and 2:25:02 for the fourth and fifth respectively.

Nagoya Marathon is World Athletics Women's only championship and admits generally entry runners residing in Japan labelled Platinum race.
