CS Juma asks licensed firearm holders to use weapons responsibly, tips team to IDPA Africa contest

Defense CS Dr. Monicah Juma has urged Licensed Firearm holders to use their firearms responsibly.

The CS was speaking during the IDPA ladies shoot training at the Kirigiti shooting range in Kiambu country.

The CS also encouraged all those taking part in the upcoming International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) Africa Championships to sharpen their skills and prepare to win in the upcoming continental tourney.

“I urge you to continue training since this is the only way that you can master your skills, and be able to measure up with the best on the global stage,” said the CS.

Certified trainer and match director Eng. Sammy Onyango hailed the day as one of the best and that attendance by CS Juma was a big plus for the upcoming championship which will be held from 2nd to 5th September at the Kirigiti shooting range.

“We have gotten a lot of support which has come from the government to aid us in preparation for the championship. There is a number of ladies who will be coming to compete from South Africa, Bosnia and other regions. We look forward to a great event.”

A total of 21 participants drawn from civilians and disciplined forces took part in the care under fire training which culminated in a competition.

There were 4 competitive stages in the contest with Irene Wanjiku emerging winner (SSP) category, Elizabeth Onyango winning (PCC) category and Pricilla Wangui carrying the day in (ESP) category.

The event was also attended by Kenyan ambassador to Cuba who is also NGAO-K patron Amb. Anthony M. Muchiri , NGAO-K chairman Martin Chengo, Vice Chairman Gikonyo Mwangi and Col. J. Sunday.
