Ulinzi Stars coach Benjamin Nyangweso has warned his players to be wary of a tactical Mathare United side as the two sides battle it out today in Machakos in the third week of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).

In other matches, Posta Rangers tackle Western Stima and Gor Mahia take on KCB with both matches at Machakos Stadium to be aired live on KTN News tomorrow.

Ulinzi Stars have one win from two matches and Nyangweso says he hopes to make it two wins when they take on a winless Mathare United side today.

“It has been a tough season so far and we will be grateful to get a win. Our opponents are always very tactical and have young players who are always running and so we have to be wary of this,” he said.

The Ulinzi Stars coach further predicted that his striker Enosh Ochieng, KPL joint top scorer, will continue from where he left last season.

“He ended the season by scoring and has started this one with two goals to his name so far.

“I expect him to have a good year as he will be one of the players we will look up to in our quest to perform well.”

On the other hand, Mathare United will be under pressure to pick their first win of the season. The Slum Boys have had a tough start since coach Francis Kimanzi left and new man Salim Ali is yet to find a winning formula.

However, coach Ali was encouraged with the way his team fought back last weekend to get a point with an injury time strike after Tusker had taken the lead via a controversial penalty.

Elsewhere, Wazito, who have been dubbed Kenya’s Manchester City because of the amount they spent in the transfer window are at Bukhungu Stadium this afternoon to take on AFC Leopards with both teams seeking their first win of the season.

Wazito coach Fred Ambani will be a man under pressure to register his first win following a warning by the team management last weekend that heads will roll if the performance does not improve.

Musa Masika and Joe Waithira will both miss out in the Wazito starting line-up.

Masika has travelled with the national Under-20 team to Uganda for a regional tournament while Waithira is yet to recover from an injury.

Leopards will be hoping that a home ground advantage can inspire them to their first win of the season.

New signing John Makwatta was unfortunate not to get a goal against Kariobangi Sharks last Sunday, but will be raring to go again this weekend.

Meanwhile, Posta Rangers coach Sammy Omollo has praised his youthful squad for a good start to the season ahead of tomorrow’s match against Western Stima.

The former international says having a youthful squad has helped his side to maintain an unbeaten run so far.

“I have seen a big difference with this squad. In our first two matches of the season, we came from a goal down to get something,” Omollo said.
