Long-serving officials floored in FKF polls

Long-serving football administrator Steven Ragos was the biggest casualty as Football Kenya Federation (FKF) branch elections were held on Tuesday.

Ragos, who has been the long-serving Secretary General of FKF Nairobi branch, lost to youthful Dickson Doyo in the Nairobi East polls. Doyo collected 23 votes while Ragos only got three.

Another long-serving administrator Ezekiel Arap Chumo also lost in his quest to retain the secretary post in South Rift. Alfred Kirui won against Chumo after collecting 49 votes to 8. Michael Majua Ouma and Bashir Hussein were elected as chairmen for Nairobi East and Nairobi West.

Ouma beat his only challenger Martin Chiseka 24-2 while Bashir beat his closes challenger Athanas Obala Obango 23-14.

In Southern, Anthony Kamau was elected chairman after he edged out Maina Koyra 26-2. Samuel Mwongela was elected secretary.

Elsewhere, Fuad Ali pulled off a major surprise when he won the North Coast branch elections.

The Lamu County-based football administrator beat the immediate former chairman John Ngowa for the top seat. Ali garnered 27 votes against Ngowa’s 23 in the closely battled chairmanship seat. In South Coast Gabriel Mgendi was electedchairman.

The secretary position went to Dickson Wangore who beat Alex Katana 34-14. In Nyanza , Yobesh Mose was elected the Nyanza South FKF chairman in elections boycotted by the outgoing officials.

Mose, an assistant chief in Kisii, got 23 votes while outgoing chairman Peter Omwando who led his team in boycotting the polls got two votes. Former international Elijah Onsika did not get any vote. He had earlier announced that he had pulled out.
