Fans Voice: Ingwe's trophyless season

This was not our year and even after reaching two Cup finals (Nile Basin and KPL Top 8) we did not deserve a trophy because we played so badly against poor teams.
But in Fans voice column this week, Krugen Chalinga has a good message for the entire Ingwe fraternity as it is now realistic the club will not win silverware in this campaign.
“The bond between we (fans) and INGWE remains strong and enduring. Even when we have zero hopes of silverware this season, our ultimate devotion remains constant and unwavering,” Chalinga posted on his Facebook account thus.
“Though we made voices and minute distractions following the defeat last Monday, still believe INGWE is ours forever. As we groggily come back to our senses that indeed this has been one of the terrible seasons in the recent past, we need to remain composed and be a hard lesson to concerned parties that early preparation is paramount to success.
“Our EC needs to be much more strategic and above all focused to predetermined goals. By so doing, best players as well as other goods, will come buzzing around INGWE like bees around honey. Ingweeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!”

Self-inflicted problems troubling Ingwe

Is AFC Leopards suffering from self-inflicted problems? Definitely the answer from most Ingwe fans would be yes.
For instance, the fans shot themselves in the foot by electing politicians, incompetent officials and people with no interests for the club at heart as their leaders.
In terms of signings, the club has been ethicized, hence 90% of the players in the Den are Luhyas and most of them have considered the team as a retiring scheme with many players being offloaded at the end of every season.

AFC is now just a shadow of its former self as it is no longer a result oriented club with coaches being hired and fired at will.
Following crowd trouble during the GOtv Shield semifinals against Sofapaka, the club was handed ‘tough’ sanctions. Apart from paying the Sh 500,000 fine, AFC will have to play remaining matches in empty stadium and compensate the home team for loss of revenue in the event they are playing away.

Juma accused of soliciting money

AFC Leopards diehard fan Isaac Juma has been accused of soliciting money from his fellow fans during club’s matches.
Juma, a household name in the Den, hails from Nakuru County and has never missed an Ingwe match, unless he’s ill.
But on October 17 after watching Leopards maul Thika United 3-0 at the City Stadium, Bernard Chava was not pleased with Juma’s behaviour of asking some money from him.
“Ingwe number one fan Juma was going round the stadium soliciting for ‘’Fare” after the Thika United match. I was surprised because I have always thought the guy is on AFC payroll. What annoyed me most is that when I gave him Sh100, the guy took the money "shingo upande" as if he had expected me to give him 1k. Juma needs to know that some of us don’t attend away matches because we can’t afford it. Next time, asinikaribie or else i will slap him,” read Chava’s post on his Facebook account. The incident has since then generated heated debate on social media.
