The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) have asked authorities to bring those responsible for the abduction and sexual assault of a Mombasa blogger to justice.

In a statement, the ICJ emphasized that no one should be subjected to violence or intimidation for exercising their constitutional right to free speech, whether online or offline.

The blogger was reportedly abducted, taken to an undisclosed location, and subjected to violence, including sexual assault. His attackers allegedly filmed the assault while threatening him against criticizing the ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/coast/article/2001503725/nassir-distances-self-from-bloggers-abduction-sodomy#google_vignette">Mombasa County Government<.

"These crimes not only violate his rights but also represent an unlawful attempt to silence his constitutional right to freedom of expression," the ICJ stated.

ICJ further called on health authorities to ensure the blogger received the necessary medical and psychological care to aid in his recovery.

LSK President Faith Odhiambo also condemned the attack, stressing the importance of holding the perpetrators accountable.

"The harrowing ordeal suffered by Bruce John highlights everything wrong with the leadership of our country—no humanity, no conscience, and no respect for the sanctity of human life, rights, and liberty," Odhiambo said.

She urged the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to file charges against those responsible, asserting that no one is above the law.
