Governor Nassir summoned over contempt in multi-billion property suit

The High Court in Mombasa has summoned Mombasa Governor Abdul Swamad Nassir to appear in court to show cause why he should not be committed to six months in jail for failing to vacate his officers from a multi-billion suit property as ordered by the court.

Justice Lucas Naikuni on March 7, 2024, issued the summons to Nassir to appear before him on April 2024 for failing to vacate his officers from 0.2641 hectares of land situated along Abdel Nassir Road in Mombasa, a property owned by Innovative Properties Limited.

"That the Petitioner (Innovative Properties Limited) to be at liberty to proceed with the execution of the Court Orders- whereby Notice to Show Cause be and is hereby issued to have the following persons appear in Court on April 24, 2024 to show cause why they should not be committed to civil jail for a period of six months for disobeying this Honourable Court order made vide the judgment delivered on January 27, 2021 by Justice Charles K. Yano and the ensuing decree. These are: -Hon. Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir- current Governor of the County Government of Mombasa," read Justice L Naikuni summons.

Also summoned to appear are Mr Mohammed Hussein Mohamed- the current County Executive Member for Lands, Housing and Urban Planning of the County Government of Mombasa, Mr Jimmy Waliaula- the current County Attorney for the County Government of Mombasa.
