Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) are the newly crowned National Boxing League champions.

They did so after winning the fourth and penultimate leg of the league championships in Nanyuki after posting 24 points ahead of defending champions Kenya Police who managed 20 points at the weekend.

KDF won the title with unassailable 100 points ahead of the final leg of the league championships to be hosted in Homa Bay on December 19-21.

We are also heading to Homa Bay with a fixed mind of also winning that leg to demonstrated we were on top form for us to end the season with our heads high," said KDF team manger Ben Maingi.

By winning the title this time round, it gives the soldiers the impetus to start next season with confidence with a possibility of having most of their boxers getting selected for international championships starting with the Global Cup in Morocco and Africa Zone Three Boxing Championships next month.

Coming third in Nanyuki was Nairobi County 13 points ahead of Kenya Prisons 10, Laikipia nine while Githurai 44 and Vihiga County tied with three points apiece ahead of Homa Bay two while Kongowea and Kibra also tied with a point each at the bottom.

Bungoma, Dallas Muthurwa, Mombasa and Meru finished with no point.
