Former Kenya Basketball Federation men's Premier champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) moved to the peak of the table following a successful weekend out.

The dockers, who were in Nairobi, chalked victories against United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Tigers and University of Nairobi (UoN) Terror to secure maximum points and dislodge defending champions Nairobi City Thunder from the top.

They lead with 15 points from eight matches having won seven and lost one to newcomers Stanbic Shields at the start of the season.

KPA, who are looking to reclaim the title they lost to Thunder last season, were too good for the city students who are stuck at the bottom of the table.

The dockers, who are rebuilding after the departure of key players, began their weekend campaign with a 68-47 win against tigers who were hunting a second win.

They were unstoppable on Sunday as they whipped UoN Terror 91-52 to maintain their good run against them.

KPA dominated Terror throughout the match taking the first quarter 27-12 before extending their lead to 49-25 at halftime. They scored 42 points against Terror's 27 in the second half subjecting them to their fourth loss of the season.

Eldonets Platinum, who bagged three points from a win and loss at Nyayo, are second with 13 points from five wins and three losses.

The Eldoret-based side beat Equity Bank Dumas 52-48 on Saturday but succumbed to a 67-89 loss to Stanbic Shields on Sunday.

Champions Thunder, who were not in action at the weekend dropped to third place. They have 12 points from six matches and are only side that remain unbeaten in the title race.

Umoja, who began the season well but have failed to keep the momentum, are fourth with 11 points four wins and three losses.

Despite putting up a spirited fight to stretch the game into overtime, they could not overcome Tigers who were not ready to go down twice in one weekend.

In the women's title race, Strathmore Swords, who maintained their unbeaten run with a 56-49 win against ANU Panthers, moved five places up the table.

They are third behind leaders KPA and second-placed Stanbic Aces.

KPA and Aces have 12 points each while Swords have eight. Th3 Swish, Eldonets and Safe Paces have garnered eight points. Defending champions Equity Bank Hawks are yet to return to action after the December break.
