Africa and Commonwealth 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala finished second behind world champion Fred Kerley in the Florence Diamond League meeting on Friday.

The rivalry between the two lived up to the expectation but it was the American who had the last laugh, as he replicated the performance he put in Rabat last week.

Omanyala clocked 10.05 seconds to finish behind Kerley who won with 9.94 seconds.

Omanyala finished third in Rabat behind Kerley and South Africa's Akani Simbine.

Omanyala is expected to race in the Paris leg set for next weekend.

Omanyala currently tops the performance list for this year with his 9.84 clocking at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, just ahead of Kerley's 9.88 at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix in Yokohama.
