Praise and barbs for Democratic VP pick Tim Walz

The campaign to be Kamala Harris's choice for vice president was a wide-open race, with several leading contenders in the fray until Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was unveiled on Tuesday.

Here are some reactions to Walz's selection ahead of the US presidential election in November.

Vice President Kamala Harris has my enthusiastic support -- and I know that Governor Tim Walz is an exceptionally strong addition to the ticket who will help Kamala move our country forward.

This is a guy who's proposed shipping more manufacturing jobs to China, who wants to make the American people more reliant on garbage energy instead of good American energy, and has proposed defunding the police just as Kamala Harris does.

Together, they will govern effectively, inclusively and boldly for the American people. They won't back down under tight odds, either -- from healthcare to school lunch. Let's do this.

I can think of no one better than Governor Walz to help bring our country closer together and bring balance back to the Democratic Party.
