A team of municipal enforcement officers and police have been deployed to inspect all bars and drinking joints in Uasin Gishu County to ensure they comply with regulations before the festive season.
Alcoholic Drinks Control Board has flagged bars they say are flouting regulations including admission of underage teenagers into their establishments.
The crackdown followed the outcry from parents lamenting that some clubs admit children without establishing their age.
Director of the board Koiya arap Maiyo told The Standard that the crackdown is aimed at enforcing the rules and regulations in ensuring that the operators comply with all requirements or face the full arms of the law.
"The county government under the leadership of Governor Jonathan Bii has given a humble and smooth working environment to the business communities operating in the county without any limit but some of them have defied the regulations," Maiyo said
He said those found flouting regulations would lose their licenses.
Maiyo revealed that his department had already shut down several bars and those with small issues were given a warning to comply with the regulations.
