Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi has nominated an MCA to take over the post of County Executive Member in efforts to streamline his administration.

The governor on Monday recommended the appointment of Peter Matunge Lemerian from Laikipia North to take over the position left by Njenga Kahiro at the Water, Environment, and Natural resources department. Njenga moves to Mali Asili Inc in the East African Region.

In the unexpected reshuffle, chairperson to the Laikipia County Revenue Board Wangari Wachira was recommended to head the Agriculture and Livestock slot left by Veterinary Lucy Murugi.

Murugi was moved to the new position of senior advisor in the governor’s office.

Greener pastures

In his address, Muriithi said three officers in his administration have moved to greener pastures, thus necessitating their replacement for continued service delivery.

Wangari’s position at the board will be taken over by Alice Kimemia if endorsed by the county assembly.

Also moved in the reshuffle are Medical Services CEC Dr Joseph Lenai moved to the Public Administration department swapping with Lucy Maitai.

Lenai leaves the health department as residents of Laikipia East constituency expressed displeasure over the lack of medical specialists at Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Last week, the management of the hospital said the facility has attended to thousands of patients in the past six months following improved standards of service delivery.
