Outspoken Naivasha MCA Karanja Mburu has passed on following road accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
The early morning accident near Diatomite Center in Gilgil occurred after his vehicle veered off the road, rolled and crashed on a tree-killing him on the spot.
Karanja, who is a major critic of Nakuru County government, was alone during the accident and was on his way to Nakuru from Naivasha.
Confirming the accident, Gilgil Sub-County Commissioner Ndambuki Mutheki said that the MCA died on the spot.
"There was an accident early in the morning in which Lakeview MCA in Naivasha lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree and then rolled several times. The police are at the scene," he said.
The first time and vocal MCA was a member of the disaster committee which is currently involved in distributing relief food to families affected by Covid-19.
Former Naivasha MP John Mututho was among the first to send his condolences terming the deceased as a youthful leader who had a bright feature.
"Karanja kept the county government on its toes and it’s a sad day that we are mourning him when he was at his peak," he said.
The body has been taken to Gilgil mortuary while the mangled wreck was towed to Gilgil police station.
