Two matatu saccos face off in Narok, block busy highway

Business in Narok town on Saturday came to a standstill after members of a Matatu Sacco barricaded the busy Narok-Bomet road.

The Narok Line Services Sacco were protesting the closure of the of their new terminus by the county government in ‘unclear circumstances’.

They found the terminus filled with tens of stones and are pointing an accusatory finger at a rival Sacco ‘Narok Star Sacco’ for their woes.

According to the Sacco officials, the county law enforcement officers raided Hass Petrol Station where they operated from and poured about 100 tons of hardcore stones completely sealing it off.

Narok Line Services Sacco say their rivals Narok Star Sacco colluded with the officers to frustrate them.

Police have since been called to contain the protests.
