West Pokot, Kenya: Two class rooms in Kaghmu Primary School were destroyed following a landslide that occurred on Wednesday.
Pokot South Deputy Commissioner Hezron Nyaberi said the landslide caused big cracks on the floors and walls of two classrooms.
Mr Nyaberi said the morning incident affected a hilly terrain near the school following heavy rains in the last two days. He further advised the school to avoid using the two class rooms.
"The school management should avoid using the two classrooms as there are big loosely-hanging rocks behind the classes, which could be very dangerous," he said. Nyaberi also advised residents living in lowlands or slopey terrains to move.
