This year’s The Big 5 Construct Kenya expo will run from November 5-7 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre. The expo is the official exhibition of the National Construction Week, an initiative of the National Construction Authority.

The event will host more than 220 exhibitors from over 30 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Greece, and Belgium.

Muhammed Kazi, the portfolio director at dmg Events, says there is a strong interest from the worldwide construction community eager to support ongoing projects in the country. “With the continued support from National Construction Authority, we will provide a platform where international and local construction stakeholders may come together to drive forward Kenya government’s objectives,” he said.

National Construction Authority acting Executive Director Maurice Akech said the event is an ideal platform for showcasing what the industry has to offer. It will also act as a platform for the Construction Excellence Awards 2019.

“The country is advancing towards the realisation of the affordable housing agenda, which is one of the pillars of the Big Four development blueprint. The event will showcase the latest industry products and solutions from exhibitors looking to support Kenya’s Big Four agenda,” said Akech.

Among the key exhibitors is South Korean company, Kumkang Kind, which returns to showcase their aluminum form-work system, a solution dubbed the fastest construction method for quality and affordable mass housing.

Sam Muihia, the company’s business development manager, said the company will support President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Prime Minister of the Republic of South Korea Lee Nak-Yeon. Both leaders have pledged to work closely to implement the Big Four agenda.

“We established a branch in Kenya but found it challenging to market the solution on a large-scale. Since The Big 5 Construct Kenya event last year, our product has contributed to rapid mass housing construction,” said Muihia.

Since its first edition in 2016, the expo has grown by 70 per cent, making it one of the largest construction events in Kenya. Last year it attracted 13,000 participants.
