Kenyan international mid-fielder Jamal Mohamed is in France seeking a possible move to French Ligue one side AJ Auxerre.

Jamal, whose Swedish Division Two club Enkorrping was relegated last seaspn, arrived in France on Sunday, according to reports reaching FeverPitch.

Another Kenyan striker who plays for Auxerre, Dennis Oliech, on Wednesday confirmed to FeverPitch Mohamed was training with the French club.

"He is here and the club officials are discussing the possibility of offering him a contract," Oliech said.

With the transfer window shut, Mohamed can only hope to join the French side come January.

Top scorer

Before going to France, Mohammed had been linked with Swedish league giants AIK.

The player, who spoke to us last week, said he was keen on playing in a more competitive league after his club was relegated to the Third Division.

"My club Enkorrping has been relegated from the Second Division League and despite my love for the team, I am ambitious and I want to play in a more competitive league. AIK are after my signature and my agent is currently negotiating with the club," Mohamed said last week.

Elsewhere, Kenyan captain Robert Mambo’s club, GIF Sundsvall, was hit 6-0 at the weekend by Malmo to be relegated from the Swedish top division league.

According to Internet sources, Mambo’s club needed to win to stay in the top division league, but now they have to contend with a place in the Second Division after one season at the top.

The only positive thing for Mambo is that he scored six goals for his club to emerge the top scorer.

Mambo joined Sundsvall this season. He said two months ago that he would not be looking for another club even if they were relegated and would see out his three-year contract.

The Kenyan captain said he had opted to stay at Sundsvall and complete his playing career at the club after playing for a series of clubs in Sweden.
