Kalonzo slams Raila-Ruto deal, insists Azimio still holds power in parliament

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has maintained that Azimio remains the majority coalition in the National Assembly, despite the ODM wing joining the government.

Kalonzo further asserted that the new broad-based government goes against the will of Kenyans and the ruling of the court.

“The court has upheld the decision that Azimio One Kenya holds the majority in parliament. The new formation by Raila and Ruto seems designed to undermine the court’s decision,” Kalonzo said.

According to Kalonzo, Kenya, once seen as a beacon of hope, has now become a state where the youth are abducted and killed.

“We would prefer detention without trial to abduction. Ruto is picking up young men, bundling them into Subarus, and they are later found dead,” said the former Vice President.

Commenting on the university funding model, which he claimed had collapsed, Kalonzo noted that nothing seems to be working under the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“We have parents here who can no longer afford school fees due to the new funding model, which the courts have declared illegal,” he said.

Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, who accompanied Kalonzo to a wedding ceremony in Limuru, said that the Kenya Kwanza government is built on lies, adding that the bottom-up economic model is a mirage.

On the constitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Ndegwa claimed that President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga had each nominated two individuals, aiming to form an electoral body that would be easy to sway.

“We want a commission that will oversee free, fair, and credible elections. We know that with free and fair elections, Ruto will be out of office very soon after election day,” he said.
