The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has hit out at Orange Democratic Movement for expelling Uriri Member of Parliament, Mark Nyamita for working with the Kenya Kwanza government.
Through UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala, the party on Thursday said it's unfair for Nyamita to be targeted for shifting allegiance to Kenya Kwanza.
"We are actually going to have a great homecoming ceremony for him once he joins UDA. We are ready to receive any leader that is tired of being part of a party that doesn’t recognize diplomacy,’’ said Malala
South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro accused ODM of being undemocratic.
"Nyamita is just after development. There is no time he has come out to publicly say he is ditching ODM for UDA. it's unfair for the party to expel him for pushing for development for his people," Osoro said
The expulsion came after Nyamita disregarded party summons at Chungwa House on May 8, over the fracas in Migori and Kisii counties.
"At this stage, the party wishes to dissociate itself from Hon Nyamita fully. We have granted his wish to no longer be part of us and advise our members in Uriri and Migori generally that he is an agent of UDA with the assigned task of sowing confusion and discord within ODM," ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said.
And a day after ODM linked Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo to the chaos that erupted in Migori and Kisii counties over the weekend, UDA has come out to defend the PS, accusing the Orange party of political intolerance
Sifuna had termed Omollo as the mastermind behind the chaos, using police to intimidate ODM supporters.
"The master puppeteer behind these schemes has been identified as none other than the PS Internal Security Raymond Omollo. The party condemns in the strongest terms, this blatant abuse of police and state power to intimidate our people and prop up regime stooges in our strongholds," he said.
Last Sunday, Osoro and ODM's Anthony Kibagendi almost engaged in a fist fight during a funds drive at Makonde Pentecostal Assemblies of God in Kinyenya village, Borabu constituency.
