Nairobi County Chief Officer for Health Facilities Geoffrey Mosiria has been entrusted with the responsibility of being the Gusii Community Spokesman in the city.

Mosiria was given the mandate in a ceremony conducted by the Abagusii Cultural and Development Council Chairman Araka Matundura and was attended by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.

The Thanksgiving ceremony for Mosiria's appointment to serve in Governor Sakaja's administration brought church leaders from various denominations, county employees, and members of his family who all said that they believed that he was up to the task to perform the assignments given to him.

"I have known Mosiria since I served as Member of Parliament as a hardworking youth who has always performed exemplarily in all assignments given to him, that is why appointed him to serve as a Chief Officer in charge of Health facilities in Nairobi," said Sakaja.

The Governor recognised Mosiria for being instrumental in equipping health facilities after unlocking a debt stalemate with the Kenya Media Supplies Authority(KEMSA) asking him to serve the Nairobi residents in his new position for the next five years which might be a springboard to a bright future.

Solicitor General Shadrach Mose who attended the ceremony said that he believed that Mosiria is up to the task and will perform his new roles with dedication asking him to ensure that the city residents especially those who are less fortunate are able to get sufficient health service near them.

The Solicitor General told Mosiria that he should be a good example that youthful leaders can perform well in demanding duties like the one assigned to him by Governor Sakaja and he should ensure that Public Ethics guide the performance of his duties for him to earn the trust of those he serves.

Former political advisor to retired Kisii Governor James Ongwae, Stephen Nyarangi said the Abagusii community remains grateful to Governor Sakaja for the appointment made and that Abagusii elders in the city had agreed to empower Mosiria as the community link person in the city.

"We have agreed as community elders in the city that going forward Geoffrey Mosiria who has been appointed as a Chief Officer in Governor Johnson Sakaja government will provide political leadership for the Gusii community in the city," said Nyarangi.

Kisii Governor Simba Arati served as the Dagoretti North MP for two terms before he shifted his political base to his home county during the 2022 general election with members of the community in the city feeling that he had left a political vacuum.
