Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo has been removed as the Minority Whip in the Senate by the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leadership.
The coalition's leader Raila Odinga announced on Wednesday, February 15 that Dullo, who is among the Jubilee Party senators who have decamped to the Kenya Kwanza Coalition, will be replaced by Narok Senator Ledama Olekina.
Olekina was, until his promotion, Dullo's deputy.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna will now be the Deputy Minority Whip to replace Olekina.
"Some [Azimio] officials, who were there before, have opted to work with the Majority Party in the Senate, and we want to be focused. We have asked our team to continue to represent Azimio effectively in the House," Odinga said after unveiling the Senate leadership.
"We want the new leadership to continue articulating issues affecting our people right now," the Azimio leader added.
Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo remains the Minority Leader in the Senate, deputised by his Kitui counterpart Enoch Wambua.
The changes come amid increased haemorrhage from the Azimio Coalition, with at least 30 Jubilee MPs declaring support for President William Ruto, and some MPs in ODM Party, which is led by Odinga, pledging to work with the Head of State.
Odinga also announced on Wednesday that next week, the Azimio leadership will hold prayers outside the IEBC offices at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi.
The former prime minister said the electoral agency needs divine intervention to contain what he termed a run of unfair decisions during administration of elections in the country.
