Elections for the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) representatives will take place tomorrow, Thursday, November 17.
In a gazette notice dated November 16, National Assembly clerk Samuel Njoroge notified of the exercise that will take place at the Senate and National Assembly Chambers at 9.30 am and 10 am respectively at Parliament Buildings.
"Pursuant to Rule 15 (1) of the East African Legislative Assembly Elections, we, the Presiding officers appoint Thursday, November 17, 2022 as the election day," the notice read in part.
MPs will vote on nine EALA nominees chosen from a list of 27 nominees shortlisted by political parties.
The Kenya Kwanza coalition will take five of the available positions, while Azimio la Umoja will take four.
Kenya Kwanza narrowed down its list of 145 candidates seeking the seats to 15.
Raila Odinga's daughter Winnie Odinga, businessman Suleiman Shahbal, the party's Treasurer Timothy Bosire and former Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito are among the six ODM nominees.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has put his son Kennedy Musyoka up for the position.
Jubilee has Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni and Director of Elections Kanini Kega.
