Confirmed: List of Governors who have won so far

The list of aspirants who have been announced as Governors.

Trans Nzoia county

George Natembeya will succeed Patrick Khaemba as the second governor of Trans Nzoia County. The former Rift Valley Regional Coordinator ran on Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) and defeated Chris Wamalwa of Ford Kenya.

Wamalwa is the current Kiminini Member of Parliament (MP). He ran on Ford-Kenya ticket, but conceded defeat even before the results were formally announced. In Kiminini, which was regarded as Wamalwa's backyard, Natembeya had more votes (39,378). Wamalwa, on the other hand, had 14,488 votes, a difference of 24,890.

By the time Wamalwa was conceding defeat, Natembeya had 117,558 votes from Kiminini, Saboti, Kwanza, and Endebess constituencies. Wamalwa, on the other hand, had 54,705 votes, a gap of 62,853. Results from Cherangany Constituency were yet to reflect. In his concession speech, posted on Facebook, Wamalwa said: "I have not been successful in my quest to be the second governor of Trans Nzoia County. I congratulate my brother George Natembeya on his victory. I wish him well."

Busia county

In Busia, former Funyula Member of Parliament Paul Otuoma has been declared the winner in the race to succeed Sospeter Ojaamong as the second governor of the county. Otuoma, who ran on ODM ticket, got 164,478 votes against Nambale MP John Bunyasi's 92,144. Bunyasi ran on Amani National Congress (ANC) Party ticket.

West Pokot county

In West Pokot, the county's first governor Simon Kachapin of UDA reclaimed the seat after narrowly edging out the incumbent John Lonyangapuo of Kenya Union Party (KUP).

Kachapin got 86,476 votes against Lonyangapuo's 84,620, a difference of 1,856 votes. Lonyangapuo's deputy in the current administration, Nicholas Atudonyang of KANU, came third with 2,294 votes.

Migori county

The race between Senator Ochillo Ayacko and former Migori MP John Pesa went down to the wire, with 49,055 votes separating them.

Ayacko of ODM had 175,226 votes from the eight constituencies in Migori County. Pesa of DAP-K had 126,171 votes. Ayacko defeated Pesa in Rongo, Awendo, Kuria East, Suna West and Uriri constituencies.

Pesa, on the other hand, defeated Ayacko in Nyatike, Kuria West and Suna East constituencies.

Kirinyaga county

The incumbent Anne Waiguru of UDA won the race after garnering 113088 votes against her closest competitor and independent candidate Wangui Ngirici who got 105677.

The two contestants accused each other of attempting to manipulate the electoral outcome.

Nyandarua county

The current governor Francis Kimemia's fate hangs precariously as UDA candidate Ndirangu Badilisha of UDA is way ahead in the votes tallied thus far.

Badilisha, as of the time of publishing this story, had 104,298 votes against Kimemia's 33,961 votes. Kimemia is seeking re-election on Jubilee Party ticket.

Laikipia county

The incumbent governor Ndiritu Muriithi could lose against UDA's Joshua Irungu, the county's first governor. Irungu, as of the time of publishing this story, had 80,849 votes against Ndiritu's 37,905 votes. Muriithi is seeking re-election on Jubilee Party ticket.

Homa Bay county

The area Woman Representative Gladys Wanga has become Nyanza region's first female governor after defeating former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero in the Homa Bay gubernatorial contest. Wanga got 244,559 votes against Kidero's 154,182 votes.

Nakuru county

The area senator Susan Kihika of UDA has opened a fairly wide lead against Lee Kinyanjui of Jubilee Party. Kihika, as of the time of publication, had 226,993 votes against the incumbent's 78,244.

Kisumu county

The incumbent governor Peter Anyang' Nyong'o of ODM secured re-election after getting 319,957 votes against his predecessor Jack Ranguma's 100,600 votes. Ranguma contested on Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) Party.

Bomet county
Hillary Barchok was declared winner of Bomet gubernatorial race on UDA ticket after he garnered 158,798 votes against Chama cha Mashinani party's Isaac Rutto 137,323.
Barchok took over from the late Governor Joyce Laboso in 2019.

Uasin Gishu County
Jonathan Bii, also known as koti moja, was declared Uasin Gishu Governor after garnering 214,036 votes against Independent candidate Zedekiah Bundotich, alias Buzeki who got 127,013.
Former Agricultural Development Corporation CEO William Kirwa was also part of the race.

Bii succeeds Governor Jackson Mandago whose two-year maximum term as Uasin Gishu Governor has come to an end.

Nairobi county

Mandago was elected to serve as Senator of the county.
