Roots Party Presidential candidate George Wajackoyah has dismissed allegations that he has endorsed his opponent Raila Odinga for the presidency.

Speaking to The Standard, Wajakoyah, who was captured in a now-viral video dismissed the endorsement saying his words were taken out of context.

In the 37-second video clip, Wajackoyah, in his signature durag is seen addressing revelers in a club, saying: "I am here to join the battle of liberators in this country and the person who makes me stand here is none other than Raila Amollo Odinga".

The Roots Party leader confirmed to The Standard that he was in a club in Kisumu when he uttered those words but denied endorsing the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya candidate.

"I have seen the video. You know people are just mad. William Ruto's people have created an image of me on Facebook saying I am supporting him. Some are saying I have endorsed Raila," he said.

"Yes, I said those words, that I look up to Raila just like I what I said about Ruto in Eldoret. I was acknowledging what Raila has done in Nyanza, and what he has done for the people. What is wrong is that?" he paused.

Wajackoyah maintains he is on the ballot.

His sentiments come a day after an opinion poll by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) placed him third in Nairobi county if elections were today, after Azimio's Raila Odinga and UDA's William Ruto.

Nairobi County has a total of 2.41 million voters this year, IEBC data shows.
