Seven Cabinet Secretaries attend Raila Odinga's Azimio la Umoja declaration

Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and his Agriculture counterpart Peter Munya are among the top government officials that attended ODM leader Raila Odinga's Azimio la Umoja declaration.

Other Cabinet Secretaries include ICT's Joe Mucheru, Sicily Kariuki (Water and Sanitation ),  John Munyes (Petroleum and Mining), Keriako Tobiko (Environment) 0and Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju who doubles up as the Cabinet Secretary without portfolio.

Principal Secretaries Joseph Njoroge, Jerome Ochieng, Ken Obura, Mumina Bonaya, Mercy Mwangangi, Dr Richard Lesiyampe, Chief Administrative Secretaries Mohammed Elmi, Zac Kinuthia, Rachelle Shebesh and Beatrice Ilachi were also present.

At least 20 governors and more than 50 National Assembly lawmakers and senators also attended the event, which was beamed live on several national television stations from Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi.

ODM chief Raila Odinga is expected to announce his candidature in the 2022 presidential polls.

Previously described by his adversaries as an “aggressive, confrontational, adversarial and rabble-rousing” politician, Raila has morphed into a more collaborative leader, attracting the favour of wealthy Mt. Kenya businessmen, some of whom were uncomfortable in his leadership.

Raila, the African Union special envoy for Infrastructure currently enjoys support from President Uhuru Kenyatta, who said in a public rally that age occasions wisdom.

Raila will be 77 years old next year when he’ll be taking a fifth stab at the presidency.
