Laikipia Woman Rep Catherine Waruguru has accused Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe and his Interior counterpart Fred Matiang’i of taking advantage of the Covid-19 daily updates to politick instead of serving the nation.

Speaking in Nanyuki on Saturday, the outspoken Woman Rep accused the duo of bragging to Kenyans on television on how powerful they have become yet things are not in order in their respective ministries.

She told Kagwe to first clear his name in the Covid-19 scandal before he can brag to Kenyans on how powerful he has become.

“You are walking around the country with Interior CS Matiang’i campaigning yet you haven’t told us who stole the Covid-19 funds, this is shameful,” she said.

Waruguru accused Kagwe of forgetting where President Uhuru Kenyatta picked him having lost the Nyeri Senate seat and now thinks he is the main man in government.

“Kagwe has become bossy, he is even telling us he cannot be fired, yet fell heels over head in Nyeri’s senatorial race before Uhuru picked you.”

Waruguru told President Uhuru to watch out for Cabinet Secretaries, adding they are not working to help him achieve his legacy agenda.

He told President Uhuru to fire Cabinet Secretaries interested in 2022 politics just like he did with former Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri.

"These people are busybodies lying to the President. You need to come back and engage the people who put you in office," she said.

Running around the country

She wondered why Kagwe, Matiang’i, Education CS George Magoha and their Devolution counterpart Eugene Wamalwa were running around the country under the guise of inspecting government projects when the country is in lockdown due to Covid-19.

“These CSs are not serious, you see Magoha in Nyeri claiming he is inspecting classrooms, who built the classrooms yet the country is under lockdown? This is a joke,” she said.

The county MP told Matiang’i to make his mind whether he wants to join politics and run for president or to serve as Interior CS.

“It is wrong for someone who has been entrusted with the security of this country, to go round telling us he wants to be president.”

She said just like Kagwe has not cleared his name on the Covid-19 fund heist, Matiang’i is yet to tell Kenyans what came of the famous Huduma number.

“Kenyans were mobilised to register for Huduma Number, this is the second year they are still in darkness when the CS with answers is loitering around.”

She challenged Matiangi to advise President Uhuru to open up the economy for the suffering millions of Kenyans instead of hopping from one spot to another looking of votes.

“Just a small post to chair the Cabinet meeting the Matiangi is all over us, thinking he is very powerful and can now run for president. It is sickening.”

Kagwe while touring Kisii County early last month fronted Matiang'i to run for the presidency, adding that the Interior CS had what it takes to run for the top seat.

"When you see a woman's belly enlarging, it obviously means that she is expectant and you do not have to be told. You have to take care of the pregnancy so that you do not lose it," Kagwe said amid cheers.
