It is a disease that breaks families. It causes couples to blame each other for their child's condition. It is sickle cell anaemia whose genesis is genetic. Because of this when a child ails from it couples wrangle each claiming not to have it in their lineage. However Dr. Kibet Shikuku a Hematologist and the current Chairman of the Kenya Hemophilia Association says that for a child to be a sickler both parents must transfer the traits to the child. Dr. Kibet also talks about hemophilia, an inherited bleeding disorder in which the blood does not clot properly, causing non stop bleeding.
