Why the pots in our household will increase with Raila's imminent exit from the streets

The story was, or is, that were it not for his intransigence and penchant for provoking his followers into the streets, the nation would have been doing so well, and it's bound to remain so as long as Raila is not derailing the process.

There is a ring of truth to that: the gridlocked traffic disappeared into thin air and one could cruise from one end of town to another within minutes. This was because Raila had left the scene.

Similarly, Raila's troops returned to base at 5pm as he had instructed them, ensuring no marauding gangs were not left hovering in the twilight, waiting for darkness before they can strike.

It's a safe bet that just about every social problem that besets us will be solved with an extended absence of Raila from our lives.

The elusive jobs that our youths desperately need will be found - for many businesses went bust because they couldn't open during regular hours.

That would be a thing of the past, as Raila has shown. He could well stay away, as long as we let him, and no panicked citizens will go looking for him.

Who knows, this withdrawal from the public could be Raila's last signal that he's about to retire from politics so that he receives his generous pension that has been deferred for years.

If that happens, I suspect the cooking pots in our houses are likely to increase as Raila has been singularly responsible for luring us to go outside banging pots on our heads, without guaranteeing that both our heads and pots will return home in good order.
