Governor James Orengo has nominated former CEO of the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency, Collins Gordon Juma as the chairman of the County Public Service Board.

The governor on Tuesday forwarded Juma's name to the county assembly for vetting and approval.

The position fell vacant following the demise of the former chairman Elijah Achoch last year.

Juma holds Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Mechanical) from Indian National Institute of Technology and a Master’s Degree in Operations Management from the University of Nairobi.

The nominee who hails from Gem sub-county is currently pursuing a PhD in Operations Management at the University of Nairobi.

Juma is also a Registered Consulting Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya, and a Fellow at the Institution of Engineers of Kenya where he is currently the President.

He has worked in the energy sector for more than 25 years, starting as a graduate engineer trainee at Kenya Power Company where he rose to the position of senior engineer before joining Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) as chief engineer.

Juma worked for the Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board since its inception in 2011, where was the Director of Technical and Head of Secretariat, before rising to Chief Executive Officer in 2016.

He is the National Liaison Officer between Kenya and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

In recognition of Juma's distinguished and outstanding service to the country, former President Uhuru Kenyatta conferred him Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) on December 12, 2018.
