ODM leader Raila Odinga and businessman Jimmy Wanjigi are attending a fundraiser in Bondo town, Siaya County.
Raila has been accompanied by several political leaders and MPs among them, James Orengo (Siaya Senator), Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Christine Ombaka( Siaya), Oburu Oginga (EALA), Otiende Amollo (Rarieda) and Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili and Siaya County Assembly Speaker George Okode.
Also in attendance are Kirinyaga Senator Charles Kibiru and former Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycap Igathe are also present at the fundraiser.
The leaders have come together to raise funds for the completion of a Sh160 million Bondo Anglican Church Synod Plaza.
According to the Bishop for Bondo Diocese Prof David Kodia, once completed, it would among other things form part of the proceeds that will enable the diocese to support the needy and vulnerable in the society.
"The proceeds will also enable institutional sustainability which will in turn strengthen the mission work and evangelism in the Diocese," said Prof Kodia.
This comes barely a day after police in Mumias, Kakamega County blocked two church functions that Deputy President William Ruto was to attend today over insecurity.
Shianda police boss Christopher Wesonga, said police declined to permit the events citing Covid-19 and security threats.
In a letter to the chairman of the steering committee of St Leo Catholic Church, Shianda, the OCS said no mass involving all 10 sub-parishes under Bumini will take place.
Ruto and his Tanga Tanga brigade were to preside over fundraisers at Indangalasia parish in Matungu and Bumini parish in Mumias East.
