Two men have been arraigned for allegedly robbing and stabbing a college student to death in Nairobi. Maxwell Omukhuba Shisoka and Kevin Ngechu were accused of violently robbing Job Chahonyo of his mobile phone worth Sh12,000 on February 4.
The Utalii College student was attacked near the Traffic Police headquarters along Thika Road. In court, detectives investigating the case applied that the two be denied bail and bond terms.
The officers told the court that the two suspects have in the past been charged with a similar offense in courts in Nairobi and Murang'a and are still under investigation. At the same time the police summited that if the accused are released, their lives could be in danger.
The court heard that the student was returning to the institution in the company of three female colleagues when he was accosted by the two suspects who allegedly robbed and stabbed him in the chest before speeding off on a motorcycle.
The matter was reported at Muthaiga Police Station and thereafter police officers visited the scene and rushed him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The court ordered that the suspects remain in police custody until May 10 when the investigators are expected to table their report
