Fiery back and forth between Roots Party principals may signal trouble ahead

The fallout of Roots Party leaders George Wajackoyah and Justina Wamae appears to be all but complete.

On Monday, Roots Party through a statement posted on their social media summoned Justina for a disciplinary hearing, citing utterances she had made that painted the party in a negative light.

In the demand letter, Justina's allegiance to the party's manifesto is questioned based on the utterances she has made in the mainstream media. Her latest comments were on Party leader Professor Wajackoya's stance to go to court over election petitions. She said,

"My boss has said that he is going to go to court. I told him it wasn't viable. You cannot leave your gate open and still cry foul that your stuff has been stolen."

Justina had earlier made comments that Party Leader Professor Wajackoyah supports Azimio and that Roots party was disorganized in terms of party mobilization.

Justina had also being accused of associating herself with opponents and advocating for their ideologies. In a tweet, the Roots Party of Kenya running mate acknowledged their competitor's victory. Part of the tweet read:

" ....congratulations H.E Ruto and H.E Rigathi on your victory. As the representative of the Kenyan Youth, I will support in any way I can to achieve a financially stable secure Kenya that is dignified across the globe."

The party stated that they found Justina to have "continuously disassociated herself with them and their ideologies" while advancing those of their opponents. In line with that, they were inviting Justina for a disciplinary hearing at the Party headquarters on 26th August.

But Justina waved the letter away, stating in a tweet that she was not going to engage.

"I will not respond to pettiness," she said. "But on the NON-EXISTENT accommodation and car you IMAGINED you 'assisted' me with you can withdraw in your DREAMS. It is your party, do what you deem fit. I will soldier on."

It would appear the Roots union has stumbled at its first hurdle.
