“My mother and I have been very close and this is almost unbelievable. I am yet to accept the painful truth and it will take time before I accept that indeed this has happened,” Mr Nice told Standard Entertainment.

“My mother is the only parent I have had for years. She has been the pillar of our family. She brought me up and has played a key role in my music success. We have always been in constant communication just as I have been with the rest of my family members. The news of her passing was broken to me by family members who informed me that it happened after a short illness,” said the ‘Kidali Po’ and ‘Fagilia’ hits maker.

The legendary Tanzanian singer has been living in Kenya since 2018. He started running a music talent search and management business a year ago and has been recording upcoming artistes in his Takeu music stable based in Mlolongo, Machakos County.

A month ago, the singer had a successful concert in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he stayed for two weeks.

“I love Kenya and I must confess that this is the place I feel more respected. I prefer to stay where I make my money from. Most of my investments are in Kenya just as are my closes business partners and friends,” he said.

Funeral arrangements will start today in his Mlolongo neighbourhood.

“We plan to give our brother Mr Nice all the support he needs during this trying time. We also plan to accompany him to Moshi for the funeral. So far, a number of friends have reached out asking how they can help and I can confirm that the meetings start today at Magnet Lounge in Syokimau,” a friend introduced as Wycliffe Areba said.
