Fun with World Cup trophy

Children from Nairobi and surrounding areas were thrilled to see the World Cup trophy at Nyayo National Stadium recently.

The trophy has been touring the continent, stopping in every African country to allow fans to see it and have a photo taken with it.

Children flocked to the stadium to be part of World Cup history. Some came alone, others with their parents, guardians or relatives.

Like every other fan, they queued and were ushered into a giant tent where they were given special glasses to watch a movie made by Fifa, the international body that governs football. The movie was exciting.

Then the children went to another tent where they were each given three seconds to pose with the trophy. They got the pictures immediately.

"It was the most exciting moment in my life. I will never forget this day," Michael Oduor told Twinkle after having his photo with the trophy taken.

There was plenty of fun at the stadium. Some children played football on giant video games at the venue.

Other children watched stilt walkers and some enjoyed ‘star jumping’.

There was also mountain climbing and ‘space football’.

Space football involved the team members tying themselves with a rope in a line and competing with opponents from the other side who did the same.

It was a historical moment for all the children at the stadium. They said they would keep the photos for their grandchildren to see!
