The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has once again appealed to the public for information to aid in the arrest of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the prime suspect in the Kware murders.
Jumaisi, along with 13 other prisoners, escaped from police custody on August 20, 2024.
The 33-year-old had been in custody on murder charges and was awaiting arraignment.
Jumaisi had confessed to murdering 42 women between 2022 and July 11, 2024, following the discovery of several mutilated female bodies at the Kware dumpsite.
Last year, the DCI offered a cash reward for information leading to his re-arrest while court released five Gigiri Police officers who are under investigation for allegedly aiding the escape of murder suspect Collins Jumaisi.
The officers, Corporal Ronald Babo and Police Constables Evans Kipkurui, Gerald Mutuku, Mollent Achieng, and Zachary Nyabuto, were granted personal bonds of Sh 200,000 each by Magistrate Martha Nanzushi.
"A significant cash reward will be provided to anyone with credible information leading to the suspect’s arrest. He hails from Shiru Sub-location, Shaviringa Location, Hamisi Sub-county, Vihiga County," read the DCI's statement.
