Ruto then inspected a presidential guard of honour minutes to 10.00am on Friday, October 20, amidst cheer and chants from an eagerly awaiting crowd.

In tow was First Lady Rachel Ruto.

His deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, speakers of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula, and Senate Amason Kingi have also arrived for the national day event.

Angola President Joao Lourenco is expected to grace the event as the Chief guest.

As early as 5:00 a.m., attendees were already arriving at the stadium to celebrate the event-themed Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

The president will later launch the UHC program, where more than 100,000 community health promoters will be commissioned to spearhead the exercise across the country, with each health promoter in charge of 100 households.

This also marks the first time that Kericho County is hosting a national event that is celebrated annually to honour country heroes and heroines.
