Kenya's energy sector is expected to get a boost after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China; 's Energy International Group, at an event witnessed by President William Ruto who is on a three-day State visit in China.
According to the agreement, Kenya is set to increase its power system reliability, modernisation, and efficiency.
Energy Principal Secretary Alex Wachira signed the MoU on behalf of Kenya while Lyu Zexiang signed on behalf of China Energy International Group.
Ruto arrived in Beijing on Sunday, October 15, and was accompanied by a host of cabinet secretaries among them Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen and First Lady Rachael Ruto.
He is expected to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation summit where his host, President Xi Jinping is set to mark 10 years of his infrastructure initiative.
