Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga will spend another night behind bars at Industrial Area Prisons.

This is after Makadara Chief Magistrate Francis Kyambia said that he will rule on Njenga's bail application on Tuesday, July 24.

Njenga was charged at the Makadara Law Courts on Monday, alongside his brother Peter Njoroge and aide Felix Lakishe.

They are facing at least five counts, among them being in possession of offensive weapons, trafficking narcotics, and subversive activities.

"On the 20th day of July 2023 at Kiserian area within Kajiado County, without reasonable excuse, were found in possession of offensive weapons to wit 14 machetes, 24 Maasai swords, 46 rungus, and three jembe sticks in circumstances which raised reasonable presumption that the said offensive weapons were intended to be used in a manner prejudicial to public order," the charge sheet reads.

The three were arrested on Wednesday night at Kiserian, Kajiado County for allegedly being part of organisers of the demonstrations.
