The government has ordered all administration officers working remotely to return to their workstations immediately, or risk being fired.

Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration Raymond Omollo directed all officers working outside their respective stations to return to their designated posts as the government intensifies its counterterrorism offensive.

"If you are working as a National Government Administrative Officer (NGAO), make sure you are at your workstation. And if you can't be at your workstation, then it's time to pack up and go," Omollo said while addressing County Commissioners and chiefs.

Speaking during a security meeting in Masalani Town in Garissa County, the PS noted that the officers must be at the forefront of the war against terrorism and other operatives with hostile intentions.

Garissa County has in the recent past experienced a series of terror threats posed by the Al Shabaab militants who have been crossing the Kenya - Somali border.

On Tuesday, June 20, Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said the government is stepping up efforts to modernize the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and police artillery in an aim to end Al Shabaab attacks in the country.

According to the ministry, the equipment will include sophisticated armored personal carriers with the ability to detect improvised explosive devices along the areas under their command.

Among those who attended the security meeting include Duale, North Eastern Regional Commissioner John Otieno, and area MP Abdi Dagane.
